Lommen Abdo Presents St. Paul Saints Bobblection 2008

8/11/2008

Lommen Abdo Presented the 2008 Bobblection at the August 9, 2008 St. Paul Saints game.  The idea is simple: combine the popularity of one of sports most-recognized giveaway items - the bobblehead doll - and match it with another American obsession - politics. The Goldklang Group is a nationally-recognized sports ownership and management firm, with teams operating in six states, including the St. Paul Saints here in Minnesota.

Each club operating in those states holds an "election" prior to the real election - fans vote through their choice of bobbleheads as they enter the gates before the ballgame. An equal number of each candidate's bobbleheads is placed at the front gate and fans "vote" by their choice of doll. They select either a John McCain or a Barack Obama bobblehead!

In 2004, the Group correctly picked the winners in each state and the national election. This is again a Goldklang Group-wide promotion - six teams in six states predict the national presidential election through a bobblehead vote in each park (Minnesota, South Dakota, New York, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Florida) during the same week. The 2004 promotion received national media attention and we expect an increased amount of coverage for 2008, especially locally, given St. Paul's hosting of the Republican National Convention.

Lommen Abdo has trademarked St. Paul Saints marks, including their brand mark - "Fun Is Good" and the term, "Bobblection." It is fitting for the firm to be a part of the sponsorship for this event.

Obama dominated the Goldklang Groups "Bobblection Week 2008," winning all six states (New York, South Carolina, South Dakota, Massachusetts, Florida and Minnesota) against John McCain. In St. Paul, Obama won, at 58% of the vote.  With over 7,000 total baseball fans voting, Obama won with 55% of the total vote between all six states.

The Goldklang Group, owners of the St. Paul Saints, sent out two press releases on the event: one prior to the event which highlights that Lommen Abdo presented the event one after the event with the results. The Bobblection also received good coverage at the blog.4president.org web site.
