Lommen Abdo paralegals and attorneys participated in the "Race Up the Place Event" on January 31, 2009 to benefit the American Lung Association of Minnesota. The race consisted of 30 floors, 60 flights of stairs and a total of 660 steps. Lommen Abdo had a team of seven participants: Valerie Sims, Kate Westad, Bryan Feldhaus, Beth Chapman, James Johnson, Lee Hutton and Ken Abdo. Several other corporate teams participated along with members of local fire departments. Lommen Abdo finished in first place for the corporate team division, calculated by averaging three of the team's fastest times. More importantly, team Lommen Abdo raised over $1500 for the American Lung Association, employing grass roots fundraising efforts. The team intends to defend their first place finish next year!

Six members of the Lommen Abdo Law Firm have signed up to participate in the 2009 “Race up the Place” stair climbing event on January 31, 2009 in Minneapolis. All proceeds benefit the American Lung Association of Minnesota. The race consists of 30 floors (that’s 60 flights!) of stairs in the Accenture Tower. The race is chip times, giving incentive to every racer to beat the clock - and each other.
Currently, Lommen Abdo is the top fundraising team! We would like to keep it that way, and as the race day gets closer, please consider a small contribution. Each Lommen Abdo racer has set up a personal web page for donations. You may donate to an individual Lommen Abdo racer or to the team as a whole. Click on this link to view the team’s home page or this link to view the fundraising ranking. All donations are tax deductible. Results will be posted!
Jennifer Schroeder, Development Manager of American Lung Association of Minnesota, was so excited about our enthusiastic enrollment that she called and personally thanked our team for signing up for the Race Up the Place Event. She indicated she has not had a team reach its team membership goals so quickly and hopes that we can do the same with our fundraising. She also gave me interesting stats from the last event: participants range in age from 5 to 72 years old and the average race time was 10 minutes and 11 seconds. There may be training opportunities on the stairs in early January. |
