Universities Hold Their Own Disciplinary Hearings: Lommen Abdo Provides Defense Representation

5/19/2009

Universities have their own codes of student conduct. Violations of the code may result in actions against the student and disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion. Those involved in a code of conduct procedure or a disciplinary action should seek legal representation to protect their rights.

For instance, Lee Hutton successfully defended a student involved in a University of Minnesota code violation procedure arising out of an incident occurring off campus, in downtown Minneapolis. The University of Minnesota brought charges against the student on seven counts of violations of the University of Minnesota Student Conduct Code, which if established would have resulted in a two year suspension of the student. With Lee Hutton's legal representation during the code process, the student prevailed in the code process and remains part of the University of Minnesota community.
