SXSW gathers entertainment and media industry professionals in the areas of music, technology and film for ten days of conferences and a festival each March. The Interactive Festival, the Film Conference and the Music Conference took place March 12 to 21 in Austin, Texas.
Since 2005, Lommen Abdo has produced the continuing legal education program, Legal Issues in the Music Industry, presented in conjunction with the SXSW Music Conference. In 2010, two additional CLE panels were added during the SXSW Film Conference and Interactive Festival for a total of 10 panels featuring over 30 speakers.
The program, now titled Legal Issues in the Music, Film and Emerging Technology Industries, consisted of 10 panels. The first two panels took place on March 16th during the SXSW Film Conference and Interactive Festival. Six film and technology experts discussed "What New Media Has Wrought: Changing Legal Architecture" and "Financing Media Productions in the New World of Distribution." The Film Conference was attended by filmmakers, independent and major distributors, actors, directors, screenwriters and film fans, while the Interactive Festival attracted digital creatives such as web designers and developers, tech and new media entrepreneurs, game developers, gamers, investors and educators, wireless innovators, bloggers, content producers and programmers.
The remaining 8 panels were on March 19 and 20 during the Music Conference. Over 25 industry-leading speakers (and Lommen Abdo competitors) participated in these panels covering a range of topics vital to today’s music industry. The Music Conference is one of the largest, most influential music business events of the year. Over 10,000 industry professionals registered to attend the conference which was filled with various panels, trade show exhibitions and artist and label showcases.
