I was “recruited” to be a contestant in the fundraising event.  While skeptical at first, I am having a blast learning the dance moves and I expect the whole event will be a hoot.  Since my wife, Jean, can’t participate because she is rehabbing from an injury (non-dance-related), my dance partner is Jill Ann Anderson who is a personal and professional life coach and has a Sunday morning radio program on 107.1FM.  The proceeds go to the Phipps Fine Art Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Hudson Daybreak Rotary Club.

There’s a short video explaining why I volunteered for this gig: I see my commitment to service and my community — such as being school board chair and doing things like this — as an extension of my faith.

Jamie Johnson describes his participation in Dancing With the Hudson Stars in this video.

Eight local celebrities are paired with professional dance instructors to perform a variety of dances.  The winner of DWTHS will be determined by the attendee’s votes the night of the competition and prior to the event.  Every $1 donated equals one vote.  Guests in attendance can bring their dollars (votes) and donate to their favorite dancer or dancers and those unable to attend can contribute online.  The votes will be tallied and the winner will be announced at the end of the evening show.
